Welcome to Pos-abilities!
Last month we discussed Web 2.0 and some of the new Social
Sites, where they were and why you should use them. Obviously
anything worth doing well, takes time. We are certainly not
going to pretend that we are experts, that our connections are the
best, or that our knowledge can help you grow your business.
What we do suggest is that by applying some of the things that
we offer, you may find your own ways of doing things that work
better than what you are currently doing.
As an example, we ended our discussion last month by mentioning
DISTRIBUTORS. We know that many of our customers in both
Retail and Hospitality have dedicated Sales Reps that they talk with
on a regular basis. We also know that many of them have NEVER
been to the manufacturers website to actually view the product or
information at the source. Why is this? We believe that its
probably attributable to time constraints. If I am a small
business selling 1,000 products and services, I am most likely also
doing my own Marketing, Accounting, Selling and general business
management functions. When do I find time to do all these
other things?
Your distributors are trying to reach out to you, the same way
you are trying to reach your customers. They are going to the
Social Sites, adding videos, product info and specials. They
also are adding Forums to allow customers to share their
experiences, suggestions and more.
So we can't tell you 'where to find the time' but we can
suggest that maybe you have someone who can do it for you. Do
you have any high school or college students working in your
business? This is the generation that can find their way
around the Internet faster than a speeding bullet. They are
the ones who grew 'My Space' 'YouTube' and many of the other Social
Sites. They know where to find the information that YOU
NEED!
So put them to work for you! You may be surprised how
easy it is to get them to do this little bit extra. They want
to show off their knowledge - and more importantly - most of them
won't even see it as work. To them, it is fun.
---Recap of Social Sites
We found two new Social Sites this past month that are specific
to the Food Service/Hospitality Industry. CHECK OUT
BOTH OF THESE 'TASTY' SITES TODAY.

your business. Check out the CHEF'S section and some of the neat
videos.
